Built from 1979 till 1982, the roadblock allows to regulate the groundwater and to assure the drinking water supply the city of Mulhouse. It is a protected place, classified nature reserve. A pedestrian circuit of 4 km allows, thanks to educational signs, to discover and to observe numerous species of birds.
